Families of Color Seattle (FOCS) is a local non-profit that serves as a resource to help build strong and loving multi-cultural families. FOCS will soon be launching an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for its Cornerstone Café.

Slated to open its doors October 15, the Cornerstone Café will be housed in The Hillman City Collaboratory, a co-share work and community space, and will offer a variety of resources that FOCS says will support and empower Seattle’s diverse families.

Cornerstone Café integrates conscious parenting and perpetuates a global culture of inclusivity, community building, and play-centered learning and will provide a creative blend of family programming with arts and culture, as well as multi-lingual classes for children and parents, FOCS said in a statement. There will also be a community café, drop-in childcare, evening forums, workshops, and experiential learning and outdoor play in the 4,000 square foot community garden.

“Cornerstone Café is a crucial goal of FOCS. We are honored the Collaboratory community has welcomed us in, and we are thrilled to launch our Indigogo crowd funding campaign,” said FOCS founder Amy Pak in a statement. “Our talented FOCS Builders team of parents, consultants, and community members have been working hard the past year to organize and actualize the FOCS vision to serve diverse Seattle families, build a loving community and connect new parents.”

FOCS is seeking public support and donations through the Indiegogo campaign to operate and provide the intended programming for the Cornerstone Café. The organization’s goal is to raise $25,000, which will cover costs of the childcare playspace build-out at the Collaboratory, non-profit development and programming support.
