Seattle small businesses Hood Famous Bakeshop, Make Look Good, and Food & Sh*t have come together with local Filipino American artists to offer a unique pop-up shop this holiday season.

The shop, called Palengke, provides a “homelike aesthetic” in which visitors are “welcome to browse and shop or chill and hang out,” say the vendors.

Palengke offers Hood Famous Bakeshop’s renowned line of mini cheesecakes, including its ube, coconut pandan, mango calamansi, white chocolate guava, and Vietnamese coffee flavors. Also available from Hood Famous Bakeshop will be ube cookies, homemade marshmallows, mugs, and clothing. Make Look Good is selling vinyl decals and screenprinted artwork at the shop, while Food & Sh*t is debuting bottled sauces and pickles that were previously unavailable outside of its pop-up events.

In addition to the items available from the three presenting vendors, local artwork by James Lawrence Ardena, Elaine Villasper, Fernando Argosino, Prometheus Brown, Christine Quibuyen, Derek Dizon, and Rico Abadesco will also be available for purchase at Palengke.

“Palengke” is the Tagalog word for “market.” Geo Quibuyen, co-founder of Hood Famous Bakeshop and Food & Sh*t, expanded on the meaning behind the name in a recent press release: “The palengke in the Philippines is like a year-round collaborative pop-up shop featuring many different goods from many different vendors. We’re excited to see many local Filipinos’ unique products under one roof.”

The pop-up is located at 1528 1st Avenue in downtown Seattle, on the mezzanine level upstairs from Alchemy Goods. The shop will be open Monday-Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Palengke will be open every day until December 30, excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas.
