About the International Examiner:

The International Examiner is the only nonprofit Asian American media organization of its kind in the country and the oldest and most respected Asian American publication in the Northwest. Established nearly 40 years ago, the IE is anchored as a news publication and has expanded into a strong online news source (www.iexaminer.org) with a growing and influential social media platform. It is located in the heart of Seattle’s Chinatown-International District.

ADVERTISING SALES REPRESENTATIVES – Two positions available.
Weekly Schedule: Flexible. Part-time.

This position entails strong consultative sales and organizational skills with abilities to network, cultivate and maintain community relationships in the Asian and Pacific Islander community.    Duties include but are not limited to: attending outreaching and networking events, researching ad prospects, following up with past clients, customizing advertising packages, database management, drafting ad agreements, and ensuring all ads are submitted by deadline with accurate ad specs.  This opportunity is great for individuals looking for flexible work hours, enjoys sales, and have a great understanding of networking in the Asian and Pacific Islander community.

Compensation:  20 to 25% commission with additional compensation if quarterly goals are met.

SPECIAL EVENTS/MARKETING INTERNSHIP
Fall 2013

Preferred timeline: September – December 2013
Weekly Schedule: Flexible. Preferred: min. 12-15 hours/week

Seeking graduate or college-level student, with credits or project work available.

This position will be involved in the administrative coordination of marketing and/or fundraising events. Duties include but are not limited to: database maintenance, volunteer coordination, event logistics, marketing outreach, and general support. This opportunity is great for students or recent graduates looking to develop real-world skills and experience in marketing and event coordination or to build relationships within the nonprofit or business/corporate sector.

DIGITAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP
Fall 2013

Preferred timeline: September – December 2013
Weekly Schedule: Flexible. Preferred: min. 12-15 hours/week

 Seeking graduate or college-level student, with credits or project work available.

The digital media intern will be responsible for managing all the social media accounts of the International Examiner (mainly Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube). They would serve as the online “voice” for the IE, and would need to be aware of Asian American history and/or possess community knowledge competency. The right candidate must be creative, self-motivated, and passionate about social media. The intern will research for relevant topics to generate conversations, engage in online communities and conversations, and actively develop creative ways and ideas to drive more traffic to the IE website, as well as maximize IE’s online content. This internship offers students a chance to create an overall digital media marketing strategy from concept to execution with the support of IE staff.  Writing or other editorial opportunities will be available as needed.  Specific and in-depth knowledge of new media trends a plus.

EVENT COORDINATOR

Preferred timeline: October – December 2012
Weekly Schedule: Flexible. Preferred: min. 5-10 hours/week with increasing hours as the event comes closer.

This position will  involve the coordination and planning of our annual Reader’s Choice Awards dinner on December 5, 2013.  Duties include but are not limited to: securing venue, setting up Eventbrite, managing guest list, ticket sales and event logistics, and soliciting corporate sponsorship and food donations.  This position requires great attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
